DESCRIPTION:A Brief History of The Jewels\nThe Jewels’ ministry was initiated under the direction of Father John\nHarmon with the first ceremony taking place in 1996. The\norganization was established to honor members\nof St. Stephen’s who had reached the age of 80+ recognize their\ndedicated service\, guidance and support of St. Stephen’s and the\ncommunity. Those members are considered the “Jewels of St.\nStephens”.\nAt the first celebration\, 32 Jewels were celebrated. Annually since that\ntime\, the St. Stephen’s family celebrates our Blessed asset: Our\nJewels.\nThe Jewels Program has remained positive and popular and has\ncontinued to grow over the years. In 2011\, Father Willis Foster\,\nenhanced the program by adding “A Blessing of the Elders” as part of\nthe ceremony.
